Many sci-fi fans will recall JG Ballard conceived the original idea of an expanding zone where the laws of nature are transformed and human psychology reconstructed. Compared to Ballard's 1966 novel 'The Crystal World', Garland's movie version of Jeff VanderMeer's copycat concept is an ordinary adventure yarn spiced up with some mumbo-jumbo.
Pandorum is one of my all time favorites as well: a good blend of sci-fi, action, and psychological thriller. Recommend me more, my hunger is insatiable. Edit: The Expanse sounds like everything I've ever wanted, I'll be starting that tonight. The Expanse. Probably my all time favorite sci-fi next to Firefly.

Maniac: Created by Cary Joji Fukunaga, Patrick Somerville. With Emma Stone, Jonah Hill, Sonoya Mizuno, Justin Theroux. Two strangers are drawn to a mysterious pharmaceutical trial for a drug that they're assured will, with no complications or side-effects whatsoever, permanently solve all of their problems.

Speaking of Rebel Moon, sci-fi movies continue to play a prominent role on the streamer. Netflix contains a mix of older sci-fi classics and new, fresh takes on the genre.

Starfish: Directed by A.T. White. With Virginia Gardner, Christina Masterson, Eric Beecroft, Natalie Mitchell. A unique, intimate portrayal of a girl grieving for the loss of her best friend, which just so happens to take place on the day the world ends.

When the creator of a virtual reality called the OASIS dies, he makes a posthumous challenge to all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune and control of his world.
