So long as the dimms are installed in the appropriate order it ought work however XMP speeds might not be available and the system will apply whatever the slowest speed or loosest timings are across all of the dimms. If at all possible go for four 16GB dimms but if you can only get two then you'll have 32GB at least with just two dimms
Never heard of mixing ram sizes and achieving dual channel. Site a source cause this clearly isnt common knowledge. If the 2GB have the same speed, then you will get dual channel for parts of your RAM (so for 4 GB). I would still recommend getting an identical 8 GB stick instead. It's not a must-have, though.
Even the higher clock speeds are relatively inexpensive—a 16GB kit of 3600MHz is on sale for about ~ $75 at the time of writing—and if you’re willing to sift through the aftermarket, cheap second hand RAM kits are fairly common. A 16GB kit will run pretty much every game out there, and will provide enough overhead to have a few other
Marking 2R means 2 ranks of memory in one RAM module/ stick, 4R - 4 ranks. All ranks in one module is always directly connected to the same memory channel/ bus in parallel. System can access only one memory rank/ set at a time. There is a limit of how many memory ranks can be connected to the same memory channel (it depends on PC system).Type "Diagnose your computer’s memory problem" in the search box and press Enter. Follow the on-screen instructions to run it. If the new RAM is not compatible with the version of Windows 10 that is installed the Memory Diagnostic tool will report it. If you have a Linux live USB handy, it may show a message about the RAM on the screen when
